There Is Another Way at FIFDH

During FIFDH in March 2025, B8 of Hope participated in several screenings and public conversations around the documentary There Is Another Way in its capacity as one of the film’s contributing funders. B8 of Hope supported the film because it follows the work of Combatants for Peace, one of our grantee organizations and a joint Palestinian-Israeli movement committed to nonviolent action. Following the first public screening, Mehra Rimer moderated a Q&A with director Stephen Apkon, opening a deeply engaged conversation about moral courage, accountability, and the human cost of the conflict.

The documentary follows Palestinian former fighters and Israeli former soldiers who have rejected violence and now work together against occupation, discrimination, and oppression. B8 of Hope contributed funding toward the film’s creation and production—not as its sole funder, but as a supporter of the grantee whose work and members lie at the heart of the story. Filmed in the wake of October 7, 2023 and during the war in Gaza, the film captures the challenges Combatants for Peace faces in maintaining its commitment to nonviolence while advancing a vision of collective liberation in which the needs, rights, and safety of all people take precedence over division.

A second FIFDH screening was followed by a panel bringing together Palestinian, Israeli, and Saudi voices, moderated by mediator and transitional justice expert Pierre Hazan. B8 of Hope also organized a smaller screening at StoryBoard House in Chêne-Bougeries, where Stephen Apkon was joined by Tuly Flint, one of the film’s protagonists, and Israeli diplomat and strategist Eran Etzion. Their conversation explored the moral and emotional stakes of nonviolent resistance and the realities faced by peace activists on the ground.

Across these events, Geneva audiences encountered members of a movement whose actions give the film its title: even amid devastating violence and widespread despair, they continue to show that there is another way.
